'Too much, too young'

June 1996 - after the funeral we all went back to Elaine and Paul's house.

The main thing I remember about it was that it seemed full of children - children belonging to friends and family, Paul's children and, not that I was able to recognize them as I hadn't seen them for years, Elaine's children.

Their father was there somewhere. I wonder what he made of it all. The man who had never forgiven his young wife for falling in love with someone else and leaving him to his anger and bitterness.

I wonder if he has forgiven her now, in 2008. I wonder.
